Level - Basic

Baked beans, pot noodles, kebabs, bet you miss your Mum now. Going off to university without mums wonderful cooking can be a daunting task. That’s why we have designed this quirky, fun course to teach new uni students some quick and easy recipes to provide a true survival guide to cooking on a strict budget.
Students will learn how to cook nutritious, tasty, quick and inexpensive main meals using rice, pasta, meat, fish and vegetables. We teach core recipes which, with a little adaptation, will provide a range of different dishes.
Because sweet treats are good too, we also include some healthy, and maybe not so healthy, snacks and desserts.
We also teach you how to cook a variety of nutritious meals using just a kettle. But no need to worry as there are no pot noodles here!
Throughout the day you will learn essential kitchen hygiene and tips on food shopping and storage, so that you are truly equipped for independent living.
Examples of dishes that may be included on the day are :
